Philip and Laura's Wedding Day - Knoxville Wedding Photographer, Whitestone Inn Wedding

May 23, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

Philip and Laura were married at the beautiful Whitestone Inn in Loudon, Tennessee.  The day started out very rainy, and Laura really wanted an outdoor wedding, but the weather wasn't cooperating. Whitestone has a BEAUTIFUL chapel.  So the alternative was amazing, too! Congratulations Philip and Laura!  Thank you for allowing me to capture your special day!

Tell me about how you and Philip met.
We met when Philip visited my small group at church in 2011 and then started hanging out with the group. I invited him to join a group of friends on a night bike ride at Cades Cove. When his bike broke, I walked back with him to his car since he didn't know anyone else. Turns out this was the first that he noticed me.

How long have you been together as a couple?
Since October 2013

Where did you go on your first date?
Philip moved to Oklahoma at the end of the summer in 2013 but we kept in contact. When I moved to Nashville in 2014, he called and said he was going to be passing through Nashville and wondered if I wanted to go with him to a Micheal Buble` concert. We had dinner downtown Nashville and enjoyed the concert together.

Was there a moment when you knew you were going to marry Philip?

One night in January as I was thinking about the relationship, I realized that he had become a very close friend and I couldn't imagine life without him.

Tell me about the day he asked you to marry him.
I had met Philip in California over Valentine's Day weekend for his friend's wedding. The day after the wedding we spent sightseeing in San Francisco - we biked across the Gold Gate Bridge, drove around the famous streets and walked around the park. Then we went to the beach to watch the sunset and that's when he told me how long he'd like me, when he fell in love with me and then got down on his knee to ask me to marry him and I said yes!

How long were you engaged?

3 months

Tell me something unique about your relationship.

Even though we dated for almost 4 months before we got engaged, we only went on a handful of dates since we only got to see each other about once a month.

Why did you chose Whitestone Inn for your wedding venue?
I really wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but knew that we needed to have a good back up plan for the weather. When I called Whitestone they had just had a cancellation and May 10th was open. It was one of the only dates that our family could do in May, so we took it.

What is something you enjoy doing together?
We actually became good friends because we both like to play tennis and used to play doubles a lot before he moved. (Thus the reason for the pictures at the very end.)

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
I think it was walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing all the smiling faces of the friends and family and then seeing Philip standing upfront knowing that he was waiting for me.

Did everything "go off without a hitch?"
It was a wonderful day! I had really wanted to have the ceremony outside, but since it was raining in the morning, we had to move it inside. It ended up being good since it was super warm when the wedding time came around.
